Sam & Emily had their wedding at Canterbury Cathedral in May. I always love photographing weddings here at the Cathedral. It’s the City that I live in and every time I go into the Cathedral I’m left pretty much speechless so it’s a real privilege shooting someones wedding here. Sam & Emily are two really lovely people, down to earth and easy to get along with. Their ceremony in the Crypt was low-lit and had the Cathedral Choir singing during the hymns and the signing of the register. During the day we had rain, hail, sun, cloud but before the sun set we got this beautiful light (see the first picture below!) Emily made me laugh by how much she enjoyed the pockets in her wedding dress (which looked stunning by the way!) In the evening I got chatting to Emily’s Nan who was so encouraging about the way that I’d photographed the wedding and she told me as a girl how she’d sheltered in the Cathedral Crypt during World War II. I bet it was a really significant place for her to return to. Sam & Emily’s first dance was wild- confetti cannons and silly string EVERYWHERE! Emily left me a really sweet review…
“Well what can I say….We did a lot of research into picking the right photographer and eventually we narrowed our them down to 3. We picked Olly because he made us feel so at ease from the moment we met. We all just clicked instantly. His docu-style photography was just what we were looking for and he did not disappoint! We received the photos the day we came back from our honeymoon, which was a real lovely pick me up. The photos are absolutely beautiful. He had every single type of weather you could think of on our day, but he still managed to take some stunning shots! My Husband isn’t one for posing in front of the camera, but even he looks relaxed in all the photos. We honestly could not be happier with them. Our guests also said how friendly and chatty he is. He just felt like another wedding guest. Thank you so much Olly!xx”
