I went to Lords Cricket Ground to do the wedding photography for Phil & Sam in August. It was my first time at Lords and it was such an incredible experience to photograph a wedding at such a world renowned cricket ground. Phil & Sam got married in the Long Room which had huge windows looking out onto the pitch. The scoreboards displayed “Congratulations Sammy & Phil” as the couple walked out of the Long Room to “Soul Limbo” (the BBC Cricket theme tune!) Hearing the song made everyone smile! After the ceremony I got to tiptoe out onto the pitch to get a photo of everyone gathered on the pavilion stands (I made sure the tiptoeing was very light so I didn’t upset the groundsmen!) Some of my favourite moments from day where the little moments that only myself and a couple of others saw. At such a grand setting like Lords I could have spent half the day photographing the venue but it’s the people at a wedding that matter the most and one of my favourite images from the whole day was Sam’s Nephew carrying Sam’s veil over his head as they walked through a tunnel. I also loved that Sam and her Bridesmaids re-enacted their teenage years by having a picnic on her Mum’s lounge floor watching MTV together in the morning. In the evening I was really impressed with the dancing capacity of some of the guests. There was a gentleman in his late 80s who stayed on the dancefloor most of the night dancing away! Lords was chosen as their wedding venue because Sam’s late Father was a lifetime member there. This wedding was a marvellous occasion to have been part of and it’s my pleasure to share my favourite images from the day.
Sam said “We LOVE the photos, thank you so much! You have some brilliant shots that really capture peoples personalities.”
