Why a Street Photography blog post from a Wedding Photographer? I’m a Photographer who loves to document real life without influencing or posing people. At weddings there are plenty of set things going on during the day you can document. It’s a lot harder creating photos on the street without a day plan or key events to photograph. The last time I shared street photography was when I went to Belgrade for a wedding several years ago. I took the lovely people that I mentor (Stan, Becci & Charlotte) up to London to photograph on the streets ALL DAY (followed by a nice Greek meal in the evening!) We were on the look out for particular things. Colour matching (where colours enter a frame and match with the surroundings), complex scenes involving different layers of people, street art interacting with passers by and light/ shadows.
Is my street style there to be trendy or alternative as a Photographer? Nope. I wanted to constantly challenge myself, take myself out of my comfort zone and also up my storytelling game so at weddings I can put some of this stuff into practice. In fact for a 2024 wedding in Rome the Groom (Reuben) specifically said how much he loves street photography and that they booked me because my work reminded them of street.
Here are some of the images that I was most pleased with. All taken with my Canon R6ii with the RF 28mm 2.8 pancake lens. If you want to learn more about street photography then book a day with me here.
