It’s safe to say that I’ve never experienced a wedding quite like James & Sav’s at Bovey Castle in Devon. In their own words they planned a weekend that was free from tradition and “a little bit bonkers”. I made the short drive down the road from Canterbury (7 hours), left my car on charge (thanks Bovey Castle) and checked into the most beautiful room on the top floor. Heaven. It all kicked off on Friday night where there were cocktails, a 1920’s jazz band, a Buffet of Beige and a game of Laser Tag around the Castle to end the evening. Photographer’s dream right!? Normally I’d start a wedding day with Bride prep but on Saturday morning it was golf followed by a Bride vs Groom cricket and tug of war! In the afternoon James and Sav left me to explore the different activities the guests were taking part in like clay pigeon shooting and cider making. In the evening they had a candlelit black tie ceremony. Everything was really personal- from their Sisters leading the ceremony through to James & Sav writing their own vows. After this we ate, danced and enjoyed some fireworks. This wedding reminded me that couples don’t need to stick to convention, Brides don’t HAVE to have Bride prep photos, couples don’t HAVE to have couple time for pictures of the two of them. It’s about what the couple want and these two wanted fun and moments captured and that’s very much what they got.
It was such a joy having you there. The images are EPIC! So many gems. We love them. Thanks so much
