Five years ago James proposed to Paige in Villa Borghese gardens in Rome so it was fitting that we went back there 5 years later (to the day) for their wedding. Not only is a city centre destination wedding a rarity for me but this was the first intimate destination wedding I’ve photographed. Twenty family and friends made the trip to Rome for these two. James & Paige got ready in their hotel rooms in the centre of the city then we got cabs to Vignola Mattei for the ceremony. For the rest of the day we were treated to the best views of Rome available. Settimo is a 7th floor Restaurant and looks out over Rome centre. We could see the Pantheon & The Vatican from where we were having reception drinks. The food there was some of the best I’ve had (I’ll be dreaming of that beef for years). In the evening James & Paige wandered through the busy streets of Rome and we ended up at Up Sunset Bar where we had the whole of the rooftop terrace to ourselves and were again treated to night time views across the city. Thanks James & Paige for looking after Tom and I and involving us in the day, we had a blast.
When it came to our wedding the photography was always something my partner and I were keen to get right. After following Olly on instagram for a while my partner knew that choosing a photographer would not be a hard decision. We contacted Olly to enquire about his services and received a lovely response and were given the opportunity to meet in person. Once we met Olly it cemented our choice in having him shoot our wedding. Olly was personable, friendly, quick to answer any questions & professional from the first enquiry we made through to receiving our photos and beyond. We are over the moon with the photos we received and are so glad we have all these moments captured, eternalising the memories from our wedding day for us and all our guests. Neither me or my wife particularly like being the centre of attention and with Olly we never felt in the spotlight despite the pictures showing different! Olly sums his work up perfectly in saying he captures moments and not poses. If you’re after a photographer who will make you feel relaxed, make you laugh and give you wedding advice (some of which we found extremely useful) then Olly is perfect for you.
