Del & Winnie brought 20 of their closest friends and family over to Chamonix in the French Alps for an amazing 5 days to celebrate their wedding. Their wedding day marked ten years of them being a couple. These two are real adventurers so they’d organised hikes, trips, runs and paraglides for their guests.
This was my first destination wedding in the Alps and it was also the first time I’d brought my family over and combined the wedding with a holiday. My Son Caleb (11) came with me on a wedding morning hike with Del & Winnie. I gave him a camera and he came up with some great images (he also claims to have taught Del & Winnie how to skim stones when we reached the lake!)
The ceremony was at Chalet Wapiti where they all stayed for the five days. It had a huge space spread over several floors, amazing light was let in and the grounds with Mont Blanc in the background were beyond stunning! Friends and family helped set up for the outdoor ceremony and there were so many personal touches with their own vows, decorations, flowers and two of their guests even hosted the ceremony (and did an excellent job).
Sometimes intimate weddings can be quiet and chilled but this wedding was full of life and fun. Everyone was incredibly friendly. Everyone got bubble guns out and danced around in the evening. As well as being adventurers Del & Winnie are also two of the kindest people you could meet. They insisted on driving me back to my accommodation on their own wedding night!? I still have to pinch myself when I think that I got to be involved in such an incredible wedding in the Alps. I’m very grateful to Del & Winnie for the opportunity.
Olly was a phenomenal photographer for our destination wedding in Chamonix. We were looking for a documentary photographer that could capture what the day was like authentically, rather than through posed shoots (and we’re both photo-shy!). We also liked Olly’s style of editing, which isn’t over-processed. Even after doing our research, we were blown away by the end result. Olly’s photos brought out the emotion and realness from the day in ways we didn’t expect. He blends into the day and manages to capture moments where we had no idea he was there. He was very generous with his time and in adapting to changes on the day.
Above all, we want to compliment Olly as a person. Our wedding was intimate with just 20 guests, and so it was important to us that our photographer would feel like guest #21. We were confident that would be the case from the very first time we met Olly. He’s unbelievably friendly, warm, easygoing, and calm. He and his family welcomed us into their home before the wedding, and on the big day he got along really well with everyone. Thanks for everything Olly – you nailed it!
