The Oak Barn is a new wedding venue on Frame Farm in Benenden, Kent and I had the privilege of photographing the second wedding they’ve hosted there. They have a beautifully converted oast house that is used for accommodation, a light, bright and contemporary ceremony room that’s been converted from a barn and a large area to eat in with beams and lots of character. I was really impressed with the set up there and the surrounding fields and hills are beautiful and a perfect backdrop for couple photos. Andy & Emma came to meet me a couple of weeks before the wedding and I loved that our conversation went deep but also was full of jokes and laughter. This continued on the wedding day itself and I got on so well with them. The girls got ready at The Queens Inn in Hawkhurst and after covering some of the prep I went to The Oak Barn. This was a February wedding and my first wedding of 2019 but you’d never know it was a Winter wedding looking at the images. It was sunny all day and there was a lovely warm glow to the light. My favourite parts of the day were when Andy inhaled helium from a wedding balloon on their wander around together and did some celebrity voice impressions (don’t try that at home!) and in the evening he kept the dance floor going by dragging his friends on and seemingly having the time of his life! I got to work with a lovely couple and some fantastic suppliers at this wedding. Thanks to Vicki Lord who did hair, Helen Lee who did make up and the amazing caterers Home Gurrown (best food ever!)
Andy & Emma Whatsapped me to say “I’m finding it difficult to put into words. I can’t stop going through the images. You captured the day beautifully. Every time I go through them I see something that I didn’t before. They are amazing photos Olly, you are very talented. When you hire a wedding photographer you want someone that captures the day, the people, the atmosphere. These are things that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. You did that and more. We are absolutely blown away by the work you did and we are delighted that we hired you. Couldn’t have asked for better images and a better person to hang out with. Let’s stay in touch and recommendations will be coming your way.”
