Richard and Billie got married in Lindos on the Greek island of Rhodes and it was an honour to go over to capture it. Billie and her family had been holidaying in Lindos for years so it was extra special she could get married on the island. I didn’t think I’d ever been to Rhodes before but according to my Mum I had… as a fetus…. On the Friday night I met up with Richard & Billie who showed me some of their favourite spots in Lindos. We walked down to the beach with the acropolis in the background, Richard stroked many cats, Billie went in the sea and then we walked up to meet their family and friends for cocktails at Lindos by Night (the Brazilian Coffee cocktail was lush) The dark roof top bar with the acropolis lit up in the background was cool to photograph.
On Saturday I spent the early afternoon with Billie and her family who got ready in a stunning hill top villa in Lindos overlooking the ocean. Billie didn’t want the boys to be having all the fun next door so she ended up going in the pool with only an hour until her ceremony (what a champ!?) Their ceremony at Aquagrand Resort was my first ever beach wedding. They were married by Christiana who’s not only the Mayor of Lindos but also a friend of the family. It was a very special ceremony with Billie & Richard saying vows on a rock over the ocean with friends and family cheering on from the sand (yes I did nearly walk backwards into the sea when Billie walked down the aisle) The rest of the day was held in an amphitheatre with views out towards the mountains. We ate incredible Greek food, danced in the open air and enjoyed some surprise fireworks.
Special shout out to the Bride- Billie is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, she really makes time to talk to everyone and is so considerate. My Daughter Rose (after meeting Billie at our house a few months ago) now wants to work with Billie at Google (hoping they take 8 year olds…) Here’s a review Billie left me (fittingly on google)
Choosing Olly to capture our destination wedding in Greece was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! It’s honestly hard to put into words how fantastic he has been from start to finish. He made time to meet with me and my fiancé at his beautiful home in Canterbury, to get to know us and talk about our wedding. This was a wonderful evening where he and his family made us feel so welcome and it meant that he already felt like a friend by the time we saw him in Rhodes! My partner and I don’t love having photos taken but Olly put us at ease and made the experience feel really fun. He’s a true documentary photographer – he blends in with your guests and captures your special moments so naturally. So many people at our wedding commented on how lovely he was and what a joy it was to have him there.
His photos are just stunning. We didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day because he was so committed to going above and beyond to make sure he captured all the precious memories you share with your loved ones (without any of the cheesy posing that we wanted to avoid!) I particularly love a shot he got of me and my mum taking a breather on the beach and I’m so grateful that he followed us down there to capture it. If you’re on the fence, all I can say is book Olly for your wedding. You’ll be really glad you did.
