This year I’ve mainly blogged weddings that I’ve travelled overseas to photograph but I’ve never documented a wedding closer to my house than Jack & Sonal’s this Summer! They had an amazing Indian wedding at the end of my garden… LITERALLY over the other side of my picket fence (the first picture I took on the day was from my Son’s bedroom!) When these two got in touch I knew I wanted to shoot this wedding as they were planning on turning their farm into a space for a Hindu wedding ceremony during the day and big party in the evening. Highlights for me were Sonal getting ready at The Pig in Bridge, the dhol drummers, chaps getting a bit too into henna, dancing during the afternoon’s acoustic act and the sunset that I see everyday from my house but then incorporating it into wedding photos.
Choosing Olly as our photographer was actually the first decision we made, even before setting the date. We based this on the amazing photographs we had seen online and the fact that he is one of our neighbours (so it wasn’t as much of a destination wedding for him!) Olly has been really calm and helpful throughout the whole process, he helped us with finding a videographer for the day and worked so well alongside her. Myself and my partner are not the best at being in front of the camera and only have a small collection of photos over our 7 years together so we knew Olly had a slightly difficult job to begin with but he did better than I could have imagined. I barely saw him throughout the ceremony and reception party and he blended in as one of the guests. It was great seeing the photos as he captured so many parts of the day that we missed as a couple and it felt like we could relive the wedding again. He did absolutely amazing with all the lighting on the day. Cannot recommend him enough and so happy with how all the photos came out!
