I’ve photographed many weddings at Canterbury Cathedral over the past few years. I’ve lived in Canterbury ever since I came to study here and have hugely appreciated photographing at this magnificent place. I photograph in a very natural and documentary style. I don’t pose or boss people about on their wedding days, I blend in and capture the real moments that happen. Have a look below at a few weddings I’ve photographed at the Cathedral in the last couple of years. The most recent is Sam & Emily’s wedding in the Crypt. Sam & Emily’s Wedding
Emily said “Well what can I say….We did a lot of research into picking the right photographer and eventually we narrowed our them down to 3. We picked Olly because he made us feel so at ease from the moment we met. We all just clicked instantly. His docu-style photography was just what we were looking for and he did not disappoint! We received the photos the day we came back from our honeymoon, which was a real lovely pick me up. The photos are absolutely beautiful. He had every single type of weather you could think of on our day, but he still managed to take some stunning shots! My Husband isn’t one for posing in front of the camera, but even he looks relaxed in all the photos. We honestly could not be happier with them. Our guests also said how friendly and chatty he is. He just felt like another wedding guest. Thank you so much Olly!xx”

Pete & Liz’s Wedding
Pete & Liz had their wedding at Canterbury Cathedral and being part of this day was a pure delight! Liz’s Father is the Bishop of Dover so the ceremony was allowed to take place in the Quire. Liz was walked down the centre of the Naive which was the most impressive aisle I’ve seen with tourists and visitors all looking on. During the ceremony myself and Jen were allowed access to where the organist plays with amazing views overlooking the Quire. There were so many moments during the ceremony where I was lost for words at how stunning the setting was for this wedding. The Cathedral made this wedding feel like a royal wedding but Pete and Liz and their family and friends made the wedding feel relaxed and fun. Pete and Liz had a stroll around the grounds and I wanted to get a better vantage point so I climbed up a mound but then realised after taking a few photos that I couldn’t get down- Pete came to help with a smile! The speeches in the Chapter House were so down to earth but also really heartfelt. I don’t think I’ve heard a better Father of the Bride speech before. Liz’s Dad spoke so highly of her and with such affection that it made many quite teary-eyed around the hall. The sit down meal was at the Archbishops Palace with a marquee set up right next to the Cathedral. As the sun set on the Cathedral you couldn’t have asked for a more breathtaking view whilst you ate! The day was like a tour of the Cathedral- in the evening we all went over to the Cathedral Lodge. I’m not sure what music there’d be at a royal wedding but this wedding had a 1980’s glam rock band! Air guitars and inflatable guitars were a plenty on the dance floor! An incredible wedding that I’m so pleased I got to be part of.
Joe & Joy’s Wedding
Joe & Joy had their wedding at Canterbury Cathedral and what made this wedding really different was that they had a first look in the gardens in front of the Cathedral before their ceremony in the Crypt. It was really windy outside and as I went out with Joy Joe was waiting for her under the tree. It was really sweet as Joy held Joe from behind then when he turned round they saw each other all ready for their wedding day. It was such an honour to be there and to document it happen!
